PLC/IT Technician Job Description
This is a split position 70% PLC and 30% IT
PLC Responsibilities:
· Must know and follow all plant, departmental and job safety rules. Responsible to conduct yourself in a manner consistent with company values, code of conduct, policies, and other standards.
· Must know, understand, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and follow all applicable safe operating procedures and rules including housekeeping requirements.
· Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements necessary for this skill or job area.
· As with all positions at the plant, overtime is mandatory and regular and predictable attendance is essential.
· Must be able to read, write and perform advanced mathematical skills.
· Follow programming standards and maintain version control of changes to PLC programs.
· Position is responsible for collaborating with the Process Controls Engineering Group on selection, recommendation, installation, and training of new process control technologies and the investigation of new developments in the field for possible implementation.
· Demonstrate knowledge of plant process network architecture structure and PLC equipment.
· Demonstrate the ability to perform regular and scheduled backups of all process control programs and HMI applications.
· Demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and understand control concepts working from complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic diagrams.
· Demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to use manufacturer-specific diagnostic software for the purpose of installation, troubleshooting, calibrating, or startup.
· Demonstrate the ability to identify problem areas and determine optimal solutions for complex modifications to PLC programming code.
· Demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to maintain, replace, install, and calibrate all instrumentation equipment related to pressure, temperature, flow, and volume.
· Provide assistance within identified projects to assess and document the current control environment and provide recommendations on continuous improvement.
· Provide assistance to manufacturing staff to support control and automation modifications and/or improvements to help reach attainment goals on new or existing production lines.
· Provide assistance to engineering team on capital projects that involve process controls equipment and/or programming as required.
· Responsible for the documentation, implementation, startup, and ongoing technical support of PLCs, SQL Servers, IO Drivers, and HMIs in an industrial automation environment.
· Design & prepare specifications, calculations, and single line diagram definition.
· Demonstrates understanding of process equipment/IO drawings with the ability to make changes and additions with CAD or manual methods.
IT Responsibilities:
· Effectively direct plant IT operations, including computer hardware, software, network, and telephone support providing all basic technical support to plant personnel.
· Work with corporate and regional IT teams to deploy update and/or upgrade projects according to project deadlines and requirements.
· Responsible for all plant network servers and maintaining updates.
· Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting and optimal support of the plant IT network to provide a cost effective and reliable network.
· Responsible for all computer hardware, software, printers, scanners, and asset management including but not limited to purchasing, leasing and renting IT equipment and supplies.
· Work with and build relationships with equipment vendors.
· Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of the plant telephone system, AV equipment and access control system.
· Oversee installation and configuration of the plant IT network, hardware, computer software applications and licenses.
· Responsible for training plant personnel in the use of computer equipment and software resources.
· Investigation of new developments in computer technology and business applications.
· Ability to manage a budget within established targets.

Qualifications Needed:
· Must have previous experience in PLC programming in a manufacturing or similar environment.
· Must know and follow all plant, departmental and job safety rules. Responsible to conduct yourself in a manner consistent with company values, code of conduct, policies, and other standards.
· Must know, understand, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and follow all applicable safe operating procedures and rules including housekeeping requirements.
· Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements necessary for this skill or job area.
· As with all positions at the plant, overtime is mandatory and regular and predictable attendance is essential.
· Must have advanced mathematical skills.
· Previous experience with software design and building reports in existing programs.
· Previous experience supporting programming network issues on Cisco switches.
· Previous experience providing IT Support for corporate and regional IT teams.
· Previous experience with RS Logix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, Wonderware, and Ignition is preferred.
Hourly Salary Range: $26.70-$41.31
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
